Summary: Should we “Celebrate Gay Pride”? Bad idea! God says, “Pride goes before destruction” (Proverbs 16:18). Is all pride bad? Of course not. There is a positive pride, for example, in parents being proud of virtuous conduct by their children. There’s a positive pride when the Bible’s apostle Paul says, “I take great pride in you” (1 Corinthians 7:4) — referring in context to some examples of the Corinthian church members’ godly conduct that Paul noted in the rest of that chapter.
But there is a pride that the Bible clearly condemns. The rest of Proverbs 16:18 sheds light — “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” That is a bedrock principle of the Holy Scriptures. Pride and haughtiness go before destruction and a fall. Let’s apply it to the LGBTQ+ movement and its current national demand that people be “proud” of it and “celebrate” it. There is a haughtiness, an arrogance, in the much-touted celebration of LGBTQ+ conduct, choices, and activism. The reason I can say that is because God’s Word the Bible clearly, unequivocally condemns both (1) homosexual conduct (the LGB letters, and sometimes Q) and (2) the more recent and growing transgender (T) movement. If you wish to give the Bible a fair hearing on these issues, please read on.
Jesus Christ quoted directly from the first two chapters of Genesis, the Bible’s first book that is widely acclaimed by Jews and Christians alike. Jesus thereby certified His agreement with God’s creative plan: a “male/man” married to a “female/his wife”.
Two modern movements are dealt with by Jesus (and the Bible’s Book of Genesis) in those two short verses:
IN SUM: As noted above, pride and a haughty spirit go before destruction and a fall. There is a catastrophic level of wokeness and arrogance in the LGBTQ+ Celebrate Gay Pride month emphasis. Mere mortals have chosen to reject God’s biblical teaching on these issues and instead to substitute their own beliefs and the resulting conduct that are 100% contrary to the revealed Scriptures, including the clear teachings of Jesus Christ.
I am well aware of, and supportive of, the biblically sound saying: “Love the sinner; hate the sin.” The very first recorded public preaching messages of Jesus Christ (Matthew 4:17), John the Baptist (Matthew 3:2), and the apostle Peter on Pentecost (Acts 2:38) all emphasized the command to “Repent!” God offers an open door to everyone to leave ungodly practices and come to Him and His salvation leading to eternal life.
God’s grace extends salvation and mercy to all who will come to Him in sincere “repentance and…faith in our Lord Jesus” (Acts 20:21). My great hope is for many to hear the words of Jesus and to reject the antibiblical teachings of the LGBTQ+ movement. Jesus offers forgiveness and eternal life to any and all who come to Him in repentance and faith.
The alternative is a dire one when each of us faces God the Judge — “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” The national LGBTQ+ “celebration” (currently observed annually in June) is an affront to God and to His biblical standards. I urge all who count the words of the Lord as trustworthy to firmly reject the celebration of man’s perverted inventions that contradict God Almighty’s creative acts. The Lord will bless you for your faithfulness to Him and to His holy Word.
