Millions of people wonder whether there are many ways to God or only one. The Bible answers that question plainly and repeatedly: Jesus Christ alone is the way to God the Father and eternal salvation.

In Short:

The Bible teaches consistently that Jesus Christ is the only way to God the Father. Through His death, resurrection, and saving grace, repentant sinners can receive forgiveness, new birth, and eternal life. This study presents four clear biblical proofs that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ.

Who/What Is “the Way” to God the Father?

John 14:6  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Jesus’ disciples had just asked Him, “How can we know the way?” (vs. 5) The Lord answered in no uncertain terms: “I [Jesus] am the way…no one comes to the Father except through me.”

No one! There is no way other than through the Son of God, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that anyone can come to God the Father in repentance and faith and become a born-again child of God.

You cannot come to God the Father for salvation by good works. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith … not by works, so that no one can boast.” Titus 3:5 confirms this: “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.”

It is only through “The Way” Himself, the Lord Jesus Christ, that we can find salvation from our sins and new birth into a glorious eternity in the presence of God the Father. The apostle Paul preached this message everywhere he went: “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus” (Acts 20:21).

Through Jesus' Shed Blood We Can Come to God

Ephesians 2:13, 18  But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ…[18] For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

How can anyone who is “far off” from God be brought near to Him? The Bible answers: “by the blood of Christ.” The very definition of the Gospel of salvation in Christ is this: “By this gospel you are saved… that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:2-4). Jesus Himself said that He had come from heaven to earth "to seek and to save the lost" (Luke 19:10).

Jesus took our sins, yours and mine, on the cross where He was crucified. The Innocent One bore on Himself the sins of us guilty sinners. The apostle wrote that, whether you were a Jew or Gentile, God provided that same, one-and-only access to God’s salvation — “through Him,” Jesus Christ! Jew, Gentile, whoever you are, Jesus will take from you the weight of your sins and give you a new birth and a new life for eternity as a child of God. Come to God through His saving Son Jesus Christ. A glorious eternity with Him lies ahead for you.

Come to the Father Through Jesus and Receive a Complete Salvation

Hebrews 7:25  ...because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through him

Here's another Scripture to establish this truth firmly in our hearts. Jesus offers a full and complete salvation for eternity to “those who come to God through Him” — “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

As a humble, repentant sinner needing God, come to His Son Jesus in faith and sincere sorrow for your sins. The wonderful Lord Jesus will accept you, will forgive you, and will give you life eternal as a spiritually newborn child of God. You will hear in your hearts the Father’s welcome: “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:18).

There Is “No Other Name” for Salvation Than the Name of Jesus Christ

Acts 4:10-12   “It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Jesus is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

The apostles Peter and John had brought a miraculous healing to a crippled man “in the name of Jesus Christ” (Acts 3:6). The Christ-rejecting Jewish Council put them on trial for this. Peter boldly declared how the man was healed. And he added that salvation itself was in that wonderful name, and only in that name — the name of Jesus Christ.

Would You Like to Be Saved Through Jesus Right Now?

I respectfully welcome all of you who have come to read this article about salvation in Jesus Christ. If you’ve longed for a relationship with God and pardon for the guilt of your sins, this can be the day of your personal salvation, forgiveness, and entry into the beloved family of God Almighty. A glorious eternity with Him awaits you after your time on this earth is past.

I invite you to pray the prayer below in sincere repentance for sin and faith in the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ the Son of God. You will be eternally blessed that you did! And God will welcome you as His newly-adopted son or daughter (2 Cor. 6:18).

A Simple, Heartfelt Prayer to Come to God’s Salvation through Jesus

A Prayer for Salvation: Dear God, I know that I am a sinner, and I need Your forgiveness. I turn away from my sins and turn to You with a sincere heart. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died on the cross for my sins, and that You raised Him from the dead. Today I place my trust in Jesus as my Savior, and I confess Him as my Lord. Come into my life, forgive my sins, and make me a new person through Your grace. From this day forward, I want to live for You. Guide my life and help me to do Your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Welcome to the Family of God! Now Live Joyfully for Jesus Every Day

If you prayed that sincerely to the Lord, He receives you and grants you what the Bible calls a “new birth” into the everlasting family of God. Jesus is your Savior and God is your Father forever. Pray to Him daily. If you can get a Bible, read from it and learn more about God and His Son Jesus your Savior. And ask God to help you meet other Christian believers in a nearby Bible-preaching church, so that you can help each other grow in your faith in Jesus Christ. May God bless you as you live for Him and love and serve Him with all your heart. And “may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him” (Romans 15:13).

Pastor Jim's Perspective

During more than fifty years of ministry I have spoken with people from many different religious backgrounds. Sometimes they are confused about God and how to properly relate to Him. While Christians should always treat others with kindness and respect, I suggest that we never diminish the clear message of Jesus' own words: "No one comes to the Father except through Me." Loving people, as we should, includes graciously telling them the truth that eternal life is found in Christ alone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Jesus Being the Only Way to God

Is Jesus really the only way to God the Father?

Yes. Jesus Himself said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). The apostles preached the same message, declaring that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).

Can good works earn salvation?

No. The Bible teaches that salvation is God's gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ—not something earned by good works. Ephesians 2:8–9 says we are saved "by grace...through faith...not by works," and Titus 3:5 says God saved us because of His mercy, not because of righteous deeds we have done.

What must I do to be saved?

The Bible calls each person to repent of sin and place faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9 teaches that if you confess Jesus as Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Salvation comes through trusting Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

Why is Jesus the only Savior?

Jesus alone died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and now lives forever to save those who come to God through Him. Hebrews 7:25 says He "is able to save completely those who come to God through him," and Acts 4:12 declares that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
